About The Amlong Firm

We Protect Employees and Their Careers

As one of the premier employment law firms in Florida, The Amlong Firm has long been protecting the rights of employees in the workplace. Our attorneys have handled virtually every employment law claim imaginable, including cases related to sexual harassment, LGBT rights, hostile work environment, unpaid wages and overtime, employer retaliation, whistleblowing and all forms of workplace discrimination.

Our 'Secret' to Success: Passion and Experience

Helping workers enforce their rights is not just a job at The Amlong Firm — it is a calling. Our firm’s founder, Karen Coolman Amlong, started militating for social justice while at university in the 1960s ― and has never stopped.

Our attorneys and supporting staff are as diverse and passionate as the clients we serve. As the first state coordinator of the Florida chapters of the National Organization for Women (NOW), and a national board member in her 20s, Attorney Karen Coolman Amlong has been active in women's rights issues. She was the first woman from Broward County elected as a state legislator in 1974, and, in 1993, she obtained the first multimillion-dollar-plus sexual harassment judgment in Florida. Fasttrack magazine also named her one of South Florida's Most Successful Businesswomen in 2002.

Recognition Within the Legal Community

Karen has been selected for inclusion on the Florida Super Lawyers list every year since 2007. In addition, Karen is AV Preeminent Peer Review-Rated* through Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating possible. The Amlong Firm has been recognized as a Best Law Firm in America and Karen Coolman Amlong has been named as Best Lawyers in America. Karen Coolman Amlong is rated 10 out of 10 by Avvo. The American Bar Association's General Practice/Solo Section also bestowed upon The Amlong Firm its Small Firm Practitioner of Merit Award for 2004-2005. Ms. Amlong was honored in March 2021 by the 17th Judicial Circuit, Broward County Bar Association and Broward County Women Lawyers’ Association as “Legal Leader in the Women Community” for International Women’s Day: A Celebration of Women in the Legal Community "Broward's Women Leaders."
