Former employee accuses Tyler Perry of sexual harassment

Working for celebrities may be considered a glamorous job, but behind the scenes things are not always what they seem. Sometimes the employees who work for them in Florida and elsewhere may be afraid to come forward about the way in which they are treated for fear of being humiliated publicly or being fired. Being exposed to sexual harassment in the workplace is never acceptable, and it can take a lot of courage to speak out and bring the offenders to justice.

A male model who worked for Tyler Perry Studios claims that he was the victim of sexual harassment. The plaintiff worked for the company for several months and was allegedly subjected to inappropriate behavior by his supervisor. According to his complaint, the model claims that the continuity coordinator for the studio invited him to his home to have sex with him and sent him sexual messages on his phone. He further alleges that he was touched inappropriately and asked to have sex with his supervisor in exchange for drugs.

The plaintiff asserts that his environment was heavily sexually charged and was abusive to male workers. When the model complained about the way that he was treated, he claims that he faced retaliation instead of a solution. He filed a complaint against the actor, his studio and his supervisor.

In his lawsuit, the plaintiff is also accusing Perry of libel for a comment that was made on Facebook stating that he was mentally disturbed. He is seeking $5 million from the defendants due to the sexual harassment to which he was subjected and the mental distress he endured. When evidence documents sexual harassment in the workplace, aggrieved Florida victims could be awarded monetary damages by successfully pursuing a claim in civil court.
