Designer Tahari involved in a $12M sexual harassment lawsuit

There is a level of decorum that should always be upheld in the workplace. Many consumers in Florida and across the globe who are familiar with the Tahari clothing line may be dismayed to hear about the recent accusations made against the designer. A claim by one of his fashion consultants is the second sexual harassment case filed against him in two months.

The plaintiff alleges that she was forced to endure a workplace that was inappropriately sexual. She claims that she tolerated the treatment during her five years with the company, but it eventually came to a tipping point during a fashion event. During the show, Tahari allegedly tried to reach above her panty line while she was modeling a skirt. She says that she pushed the skirt down and told him to stop.

The woman claims she was embarrassed because it happened in front of her peers. Tahari purportedly yelled that he could no longer work with the plaintiff and complained that she was too sensitive. Reportedly, the plaintiff reported the incident to human resources promptly, but she was terminated and told to leave her office two hours later. After losing her job, the woman filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Tahari, seeking $12 million.

Everyone deserves workplace in which they feel comfortable and safe. Employees in Florida who believe they have been victimized do have legal help available to them. Based upon appropriate evidence of the sexual harassment, claimants may be entitled to receive monetary damages as awarded by the court.
